Free Outdoor Summer Concerts

Whitewater River Jam U.S. National Whitewater Center hosts free concerts every Thursday and Saturday all summer In the warmer months, there’s no shortage of opportunities to enjoy music outdoors, for free. Check out some of these concert series around the Charlotte area. Settings range from urban parks to shopping centers to museum lawns and much more. Click on the links to find the detailed schedule for each venue. In addition to these music series there are also free festivals that feature music.
Every Thursday and Saturday evening 7pm to 10pm through the end of September. Also, the center holds a free open water swim on the Catawba River on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Charlotte Alive After Five Every Thursday from April 2nd to August 27th at The EpiCentre, 210 East Trade Street, starting at 5 p.m. Shows take place on two stages: The Rooftop Stage and the Common Area Stage (through June 25th)
Sunset at Metropolitan Thursdays from May 7th to May 28th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Concerts take place at Metropolitan, 1111 Metropolitan Avenue. April 24th to May 15th, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Piedmont Town Center is at 4725 Piedmont Row Drive. Six String Saturdays In conjunction with its exhibit Guitar: The Instrument that Rocked the World, Discovery Place is presenting free 45-minute long concerts outside the museum, for all to enjoy, every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from May 30 to September 5.
discovery place guitar Stonecrest Summer Concert Series Every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. through September. Shows take place on the Fountain Stage on Friday and Saturday evenings and on the Plaza Stage on Saturday evenings. Stonecrest Shopping Center at 7900 Rea Road. Blakeney Summer Concert Series Every Friday and Saturday through August 29th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Ardrey Kell and Rea Road, at Village Green at Blakeney. Davidson’s Concerts on the Green Concerts take place the first and third Sundays May through September, with some exceptions and additional concerts. (Follow above link for schedule.) Concert hours are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and take place on the town green in downtown Davidson at the corner of main Street and Concord Road, on the Davidson Public Library stage.
Kannapolis Summer Entertainment Series Events include concerts, fireworks, movies, and stories for kids, held at a number of locations in Kannapolis. There is a huge amount of entertainment offered at different venues in Kannapolis. Follow the above link for the complete schedule. Union Street Live Live music every third Thursday from May to August from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Concerts will take place on the Historic Courthouse Lawn at 65 Union Street South in downtown Concord.
Pineville Rockin’ and Reelin’ Summer Concert and Movie Series Free movie and concert series held on various Fridays May through September. Concerts begin at 7 p.m., movie pre-shows begin at 7 p.m and movies start at dusk. Concerts take place on May 29, June 26, July 24, August 21 and September 18. Gaston County Museum’s Blues Out Back Concerts take place the second Friday of the month through August, and the first Friday in September, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 131 W Main Street in Dallas.
John Dee Holeman and Tad Walker The Wine Vault Free live music several nights a week, most Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Party in the Park Weekly music series with concerts on Wednesdays through August 26th at 6 p.m. at Romare Bearden Park, 300 South Church St. Music Box Lunch Series Informal musical presentations take place at Romare Bearden Park, 300 South Church Street, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Belmont’s Friday Night Live Every other Friday night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., through August 28. Downtown Belmont on South Main Street. June Tunes Every Saturday in June, at 7:00 p.m., live music in front of Mint Hill’s Town Hall. Promenade on Providence Fridays and Saturdays through the end of September, listen to live music every Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. There will also be the occasional kid movie.
