The "T" Letter: The Cover Letter for the CEO of ME, Inc.

There are many formats to choose from when drafting a cover letter.  Many people prefer a straightforward, paragraph–based cover letter simply because they’re comfortable with it or possibly because they haven’t heard of other, possibly better formats.

THE “T”-LETTER”: The Cover Letter for the CEO of ME, Inc.

One special style of cover letter is exceptionally helpful in conveying your unique value to decision-makers:  The “T-Letter” (think of it as your “Executive Summary”).

The express purpose of a T–Letter is to demonstrate with strong visual impact exactly why you are uniquely qualified for the position you seek.  If you’ve done your homework well and selected a position for which you are at least a 70% match, a T–Letter gives you the chance to lay out your case for the job “point by point” using a chart in the middle of the letter. The chart compares each core requirement for the job on the left with a corresponding “qualification bullet” on the right demonstrating how you have proven experience for that requirement.

This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with extensive knowledge of Web and social media.
